A region of southern Italy is currently calling for sustainable ideas on how to renovate or reuse a stretch of the Salerno-Reggio Calabria highway, located between Sicily and Bagnara, with a focus on implementing a renewable energy into the infrastructure. The old highway will be decommissioned and a new highway is set to be built nearby. Currently the jury is still in deliberation and a winner has yet to be decided for the Solar Park South, but being the sleuths that we are, we came across this fascinating proposal for a parasitic city set to take root on the foundations of the highway’s bridges. Although the proposal by Ja Studio Inc called ‘Slow Uprising’ doesn’t actually meet the requirements of the competition, we still love the idea of buildings sprouting on a bridge.

One Of Our Most Epic Installations From Coachella Comes To NYC
by The Creators Project Staff October 12, 2011
Under the beaming, relentless Coachella sun, festival goers found respite in a silver-lined, four-story alien-like structure. The brainchild of director Jonathan Glazer and Spiritualized frontman J.Spaceman, the structure was A Physical Manifestation of Ladies and Gentlemen, We Are Floating in Space a spacial remix, of sorts, of Spiritualized’s most famous track. With a progressive architectural design from Undisclosable and creative and technical realization from the One of Us team, the wildly ambitious installation became one of the crown jewels of our technologically-fueled presence at Coachella.
This project makes visible to the human eye the patterns of desert winds. During the day, sunlight projects patterned shadow drawings onto the ground and pedestrians on their daily paths. At night, the colored illumination gradually changes color through the seasons. The large three-dimensional multi-layered form is created by a combination of hand and machine knotting of recyclable high-tenacity colored polyester that is replaced in new color variations at intervals.-Janet Echelman
